Last month’s presentation:

USPAP Webinar:  We viewed the Appraisal Foundation’s webinar discussing the more significant changes to USPAP (2012-2013).  Of note: AO-13 has been retired; a revised AO-13 will be forthcoming; the term “client” is further clarified so as to identify the end-user of the report; further clarification on record keeping will be forthcoming, and the certification page must include a statement of “prior services”.  The new version of USPAP is now available.

Looking ahead:

Annual Conference: BV-22 will be held on: Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012 at the University of St. Thomas – Minneapolis Campus.  Our keynote speaker is Rob Slee, with a two-session update on the Cost of Capital for private companies.  Toby Madden will present the Economic Outlook; Mike Gregory will walk us through the new DLOM practice aid; and Howard Lewis is on board to describe recently approved and proposed standards changes.  The final two sessions are not yet locked in but could include valuation of unique properties with business and real estate components, recent court cases of note, and/or a practitioner’s guide to discounts.
