Time:                        Noon – 1:00 PM

Agenda:                   Jeffrey Wright of Corporate Finance Associates will present details from two business sales and meeting participants will submit their guess as to the sale price of each business.  Gift cards will be awarded to the attendees who submit the guess closest to the actual sale price.

                                   In addition to the usual valuation contest, there will also be an ugly sweater contest.  Pull out the tinsel and reindeer antlers and see if your look can win you the prize!

Notes from the October 19th Meeting:

• John Heidebrecht was the speaker for the October meeting presentation. He discussed the recent Lunds Case.  The family ownership of the Lunds & Byerlys chain of grocery stores battled over tens of millions of dollars as the eldest sibling looked to cash out of the business.  This case went to trial and became a battle between nationally-known business valuation experts with wildly divergent opinions of value.  The presentation highlighted the court’s rebuke of the experts for advocacy, and the valuation details integral to the decision of the court.  Thank you, John for sharing your expertise with us!
• Have you taken the survey? The MABVP is in the process of restructuring the format of our chapter meetings and would like you to offer your opinion on how to improve our meetings.  We have sent out a brief survey to learn how to better serve our members.  The survey takes only a couple of minutes and all the results will be reviewed as part of our process to bring positive changes to our organization.
• Please remember there will be no chapter meeting in the month of November. We look forward to seeing you in December at the Valuation Contest (and Ugly Sweater Contest)!
