Agenda: Business meeting followed by presentation. Michael Gregory will offer an overview of the joint ASA – CICBV conference in October 2014

General Business:

• Jennifer Schiefert announced a reminder to MABVP members:  If a member attends a national conference on valuation topics and is willing to make a presentation on some of the topics covered at a monthly meeting, MABVP will pay a stipend of $300.
• The December 2014 meeting featured the annual Valuation Contest held jointly with ASA.  Jeff Wright from CFA Minneapolis gave a lively presentation and went over the details of two recent sales. Sale 1 was an internet security company that had experienced rapid growth and had monthly subscription revenue stream. This offering gained the interest of many potential buyers and resulted in a bidding war between two final buyers.  This company sold for $20 million. Jim Roff submitted a ballot estimating the sale price at $20 million and won a gift card for his spot on prediction.  Sale 2 was a golf cart distributorship for a major golf cart brand with territory in four states and 250 golf course customers. The distributorship sold for $4.2 million – the winner of round two of the contest was Ryan Stretmater, whose sale price estimate was off just $100,000. Congratulations to the two winners.
• At January’s meeting, Michael Gregory will present highlights of the Canadian Institute of Certified Business Valuers and the American Society of Appraisers joint business valuation conference that took place October 27-29, 2014.
