At our joint ASA/NCCIBA meeting in March, Bob Strachota summarized attempts to set up a non-profit entity, Business Data Network (BDN).  The idea is to develop a database for local business appraisers and brokers similar to ADN, the system currently available for real estate appraisers and brokers. The general consensus is that the concept is good but the initial costs and on-going maintenance are high.  Most members would like to see a more comprehensive business plan before committing to the project.

This Month’s Topic:

We will view a short webinar on discounts and discuss recent academic attacks on the use of discounts in valuations.

Looking Ahead:

Prospective meeting dates for the 2012-2013 year will be announced next month.

The Annual Board Meeting will be scheduled for mid-to-late summer.  The Board will propose a slate of candidates, review and approve meeting dates for the coming year, suggest topics/speakers for the monthly meetings, and determine the date for our annual BV conference.
